A Comparison of the Deuteronomy Passover and the New Testament Passover
Parallels with the Old Testament
The Parallels of Ex 12, and especially Dt 16,compared to the New Testament passages teach us that our Leader was leaving an example to follow on how to keep the “Night to be Much Observed”!
*<No bone was to be broken
>Yeshua had no broken bones
*<Head of household chose lamb according number of persons under his roof.
God the Father was the Head of household at this time, that chose Yeshua, and He was the one who chose the 12…The ones that You have given Me.’ =
>Yeshua possibly chose the lamb, telling His disciples to go prepare it; The Lamb of God was chosen by His Father to be the Lamb sacrificed from the foundation of the world…
*<See Dt 16:16, “three times a year, in the place the Lord chose…after they entered the land, Shiloh was that place, then, at the time of David, Jerusalem became that place.
>Yeshua chose the house, ahead of time, in Jerusalem, where they were to meet. Notice, it wasn’t at the temple…He was following the Dt 16:2,7 instructions.
Compare “keep” , used over 440 times in the Old Testament
“watch” Couldn’t you watch with Me even an hour?
OT: “Observed” This particular word is used only in this verse; Ex 12:42…
Night to be Much Observed” According to The Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament, the root of both words, “keep” and “observed” means “to exercise great care over”. Observed has been translated in a tense
Parallels between : Firstborn, firstfruits, first resurrection saints….stating the obvious. See Is 52:1-12, the final exodus from all the ends of the earth, into the Millennial promised land….no anxiety, no hurry! And read the rest of the chapter, vs 13-15, to understand the prophecy that was fulfilled in His crucifixion.
Necessary requirements to keep Passover: Circumcised, unblemished, male HAD to appear, a single yearling lamb or kid goat,/
Meanings of animals: Bull= the whole congregation of Israel, including proselites,
Ram= killed in consecration of priests, feasts, monthly, daily?
Discussion of 430 years…Gn 15, …a fertility sacrifice, not necessarily related to Passover…3 year old ewes, shegoat. Doves…etc. Gn 17
